Frequently Asked Questions

Are Dogs Walked In a "Group Pack" or Walked Individually?
For safety, to ensure individual attention and to keep a dog's training in place, Tapping Paw Pet Sitters only walks one household's dogs per call. In a group, some dogs lose their share of the attention and can be bullied by some of the other dogs. Philadelphia is rich with dog parks and areas dogs and owners congregate. For owners interested in their dog receiving socialization it is easy enough to find!

I Heard Tapping Paw Pet Sitters Offers No-Cost Dog Training Classes. Is That True?
Yes and no. The owner of Tapping Paw Pet Sitters, Joe White, has been running free dog behavioral seminars and group obedience classes for over 10 years. Originally there was a fee to attend the classes unless a dog owner adopted the dog from select Philadelphia animal refuses such as PACCA or the Morris Animal Refuge. Presently, however, the classes are no-cost for all dog owners. The no-cost training dog training is available regardless of whether or not a dog owner uses Tapping Paw Pet Sitting Service or not.

How Do I Get My Dog into the no-Cost Dog Training Program?
That's easy! Just go to TheDogCoach.com and register.

My Pets Sometimes Misbehave. My Cat Bites Sometimes and My Dog Pulls On the Leash. How Does Tapping Paw Pet Sitters Handle This?
We do not physically correct our pet sitting client's pets for two main reasons. The first reason is that it is not our place to discipline someone else's pet and second we love our job and correcting a pet would be contrary to this. Also, since Tapping Paw Pet Sitters has such a strong training back ground we know we can get the most effective results by encouraging good behavior and just not encouraging the occasional bad behaviors. In other words, misbehavior most often relies on the response the dog receives for it. When we don't agree with a behavior, we just don't respond.

As a Company That Disposes of Scat Is Tapping Paw Pet Sitters Concerned About Its Impact On The Environment?
Absolutely! Dog walking alone can generate an enormous amount of dog walk bags so we know that if we keep your pets green we can do our part for the environment. All materials we use for clean up are biodegradable and our staff is chosen by neighborhood to minimize, and even eliminate, the environmental impact of travel to a pet's home creates. We are always looking for ways to keep our client's pets(and ourselves) as green as possible.

Do You Walk Aggressive Dogs?
We do have a strong background in dog training and if we can work through any issues with your pet that we feel we have control over your dog enough to keep others safe then we will be happy to be work with your dog.

Can You Administer Medication?
Yes, we do give medicine and administer shots as part of our visit if need be.

Do You Need Keys to My House?
Yes, and we make a duplicate copy as well. All keys are given a security code assigning to the proper home. This is a safeguard so that only we know which home the key is assigned to. Keys can also be left with a doorman as long as they are on duty during visits.

How Do I Make Payments?
Payments can be made by cash, credit card and checks. Payment are made at the beginning of the week for any scheduled service. Additional payments can be made when services are added. You may tip your walker cash or leave a note in the memo on your check if you decide to do that. Please note that we consider pet sitting a non-tipping industry.

Does Tapping Paw Pet Sitters Care for Pets Other Then Dogs and Cats?
Yes and plants also. We have cared for birds, fish, reptiles, ferrets, hamsters, gerbils, turtles, mice, rats and even a pig! (she was extremely sweet!)

Does Tapping Paw Pet Sitters Work on Weekends and Holidays?

Any Thoughts On Other Pet Sitting Services I Might Consider ?
Gasp!... Recommend Our Competition??? If you are not going to use us we still want your pets, and your home to be safe. Walkies, LLC, Kerri's Cat Care and Philapets are all companies we feel would also be good options for pet owners.
